Today, Culver’s® of Chelsea officially opens at 10 a.m. at 1610 South Main St., marking Chelsea’s newest restaurant.

The Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Culver’s on Dec. 11, and dozens of community members were invited.

The restaurant is locally owned and operated by Gerry Olinik, who presented a donation to Sherry Montoye and Sarah Shugart of Faith in Action.

A string quartet from Chelsea High School provided music.

The Wisconsin-based restaurant is known for its ButterBurger, which is made with 100 percent fresh, never frozen beef and served on a lightly buttered, toasted bun. The restaurant is also known for its frozen custard, which comes in a variety of flavors along with mix-ins and toppings. chicken sandwiches, garden salads, crinkle-cut fries, Wisconsin cheese curds, and kids’ meals are also available.

Jeff Holden, community relations and marketing director for Culver’s said, “Being an active member of the Chelsea community means Culver’s is involved with and supports community organizations, schools, library, and much more.”

Culver’s will be awarding a $1,000 scholarship for a Chelsea High School graduating senior beginning next year that will be based on community involvement and support.

The restaurant joined the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce in February of 2021, and has been a sponsor of Hometown Holidays, the Sweet $aver Saturdays program, and the chamber’s golf outing.

Culver’s has been around for more than 35 years with more than 800 family-owned and operated restaurants in 25 states.

The restaurant’s Chelsea location will be open from 10 a.m-11 p.m. daily except on some holidays.
