In recognition of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Culver’s of Chelsea (located at 1610 South Main St.) has started a “Pints for Pink” promotion.
For each pint of frozen custard sold in the month of October, $1 will be donated to Chelsea Hospital to support cancer programs.
These programs include:
Cold cap therapy – Chemotherapy-induced hair loss is widely recognized as one of the most traumatic side effects associated with cancer treatment, and breast cancer, for many, brings a sense of complete loss of control, feelings of helplessness, and something over which one has little control.
At Chelsea Hospital, we are changing that. While losing your hair may sound like a small price to pay for preventing cancer from coming back, it’s a side effect that’s often hard to take. Not only can losing your hair be tough on your self-image, it’s also a vivid and constant reminder of a cancer diagnosis.
Using a cold cap can significantly reduce hair loss caused by chemotherapy. Cold cap therapy, however, is often not fully covered with insurance. With your help, we can offer more patients access to this therapy and help our breast cancer patients maintain their self-esteem.
Equipment enabling our surgeons and caregivers to leverage the latest in emerging technologies in the fight against breast cancer – New techniques in breast cancer reconstruction help patients avoid lengthy recoveries and long-term complications. With your help, Chelsea Hospital can continue to invest in the state-of-the-art equipment needed for new techniques like DIEP procedures, which preserve abdominal strength, lessen the likelihood of complications like hernia and shorten the time needed for patients to return to wellness.
