(I thought everyone would like a head’s up on this.)
The Michigan Department of Transportation cautions drivers that southbound US-23 will be closed between North Territorial Rd and M-14 in Washtenaw County from 10 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, to 4 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, to allow crews to set a bridge beam at Joy Road.
The posted detour will include Exit 49 to WB N. Territorial Road, SB Whitmore Lake Road, EB Barton Drive, and EB M-14 back to US-23.
Joy Road will be closed over US-23 during beam setting as well, with a detour posted.
After the beam has been set, SB US-23 will have the shoulder closed daily until Dec. 15, while Joy Road will continue to have 1 lane open with a temporary signal for approximately 1 month until construction is complete on the bridge.
