Feb. 6: Chelsea hosts annual Chocolate Extravaganza

Chocolate-artShopping for your Valentine doesn’t get sweeter than this.

Find something sweet for your valentine during Chelsea’s 8th annual Chocolate and Shopping Extravaganza.

On Saturday, Feb. 6, over 20 participating stores and restaurants throughout Chelsea will offer chocolate tasting, sales on chocolate, and Valentine-themed merchandise, raffles, and a medley of activities from 10 am to 5 pm.

Brochures with a map and event listings will be available on the day of the event at participating businesses.

Long recognized as a premier shopping and dining destination, Chelsea is once again organizing a day for locals and visitors to find the gifts they need while enjoying treats, raffles, and discounts in participating shops.

Chelsea Milling Company, maker of America’s favorite “Jiffy” Mix, is getting into the spirit of the event this year, too. The Chelsea landmark has contributed two generous gift baskets for raffle.

Another landmark in the downtown area, Seitz’s Tavern, will be celebrating 100 years of family ownership. Be sure to stop in to congratulate Randy Seitz, and enjoy a piece of anniversary cake.

And, as you stroll through Chelsea, you will also notice some sweet changes to the city’s landscape.

A predominate downtown shop, the Mule Skinner will be hosting their grand re-opening at their new location on North Main Street, during the Extravaganza. Now even larger, the Mule Skinner offers something for all the Valentines on your list including ladies and children’s boots as well their popular collection of men’s boots, vests, hats, and holsters.

Also be sure to visit The Garden Mill to see their new look and the new treasures just in for Valentine’s Day. “We are really excited about The Garden Mill’s new design, and can’t wait to re-open our doors during the Chocolate and Shopping Extravaganza. Chocolate and shopping, what a perfect way to celebrate our new look!” said Jennifer Fairfield, owner of The Garden Mill.

Janet Brown will also be returning to The Garden Mill with a variety of custom chocolate Valentine treats available for purchase.

Sweet Valentine deals can also be found at other shops in the downtown district like La Maison, Merkel’s Furniture and Carpet One, Bumble’s Dry Goods, and Moran’s Consignment, which will have new markdowns and new inventory.

Just west of town, on Old US 12, USArt Quest will have discounts on Valentine papers and select merchandise throughout the store.

In addition to the fabulous shopping, the Extravaganza will offer activities and demonstrations to entertain. Gigi’s Flowers will offer a “Make and Take” floral arrangement with instruction from Gigi herself, a bargain at just $20. While you’re at Gigi’s, be sure to stop by the Jewelry Set-in-Stone table to see custom jewelry designed and made by artist Stephen Kolokithas. What would Valentine’s Day be without some sparkle?

At Breathe Yoga’s new downtown studio you can pick up a class schedule and a chocolate.

When it’s time to take a break from the shopping, be sure to stop by one of the restaurants to relax and recharge with a great meal and a chocolate-themed treat like a chocolate martini at Smokehouse 52, a Maple Bacon Brownie at Chelsea Alehouse, or any of the yummy menu items at Cleary’s Pub.

It will be an extravagant day out in Chelsea, full of sweet treats and sweet deals.
