It’s A Great Day To Be Alive, an annual fundraiser for St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea began by cancer survivor Gary Klapperich, will hold a chicken fundraiser Saturday, June 11 at the Ann Arbor Eagles on Jackson Road from 1-6 p.m.
There are three events scheduled this year, including the Annual Rummage Sale on Aug. 19-20 plus a new Luminaire Ceremony/Survivor/Caregiver Dinner to be held on Sept. 17 at the Saint Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital Cancer Center.
Klapperich has spent the past seven years organizing these annual fundraising events along with the Ann Arbor Fraternal Order of Eagles #2154 and presenting checks to the Saint Joseph Mercy Cancer Center in Chelsea. The name of the fundraiser came from a song by Travis Tritt and was the tune this cancer patient kept in his mind during his chemotherapy treatment at Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital.
To date, It’s A Great Day to Be Alive has raised over $140,000 and donated it all to Saint Joseph Mercy Chelsea Cancer Center.
It’s A Great Day To Be Alive is a 501(c)(3), and here is a previous story.
