At the Nov. 14 Lima Township Board meeting, the board unanimously approved a budget line item adjustment to transfer $3,000 from contingency funds to the elections budget.
Clerk Elaine Bater said the election fund was over budget due to salaries and office supplies, mostly related to sending out absentee ballots.
Seventy-eight percent of registered voters in the Township voted in the Nov. 8 election according to Bater, who reported that Hillary Clinton received 1,091 votes, and Donald Trump received 1,062 votes.
“I had the most wonderful crew of election workers,” Bater said.
“Everyone did an awesome job,” said re-elected Township Supervisor Craig Maier. “It was an 18-hour day, and I really appreciate the effort they put forth.”
The board unanimously approved adoption revisions to the Off Premises Business and Home Occupation Ordinance.
Additions to the ordinance include: “Employees shall be permitted to access the site to pick up and drop off vehicles and equipment.” Also added is that equipment should be stored in a completely closed building or as specified by the planning commission through a special use permit. Also added to the ordinance was that minor routine maintenance of equipment would be permitted from time to time.
The board also voted to have a work session on Monday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. to discuss Township Hall capital improvements.
Maier shared news about area bridges and said bridge work on South Fletcher Road is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 21 with closure expected for two to three days.
He was not pleased with the asphalt maintenance upgrade to the Jerusalem Road bridge, which will be receiving further attention.
Maier said that they are awaiting the final engineering inspection for Wylie Road, and that the Liberty Road did not make the cut for state and federal funding for this year.
