Monitoring noise levels has posed some challenges for the owners of Nordman Lake/Camp Woodbury, but nevertheless they have met the commitment of their special use permit according to Greg McKenzie, Lima Township Board Trustee.
The owners of Nordman Lake/Camp Woodbury went before the board at its Aug. 8 meeting for an annual review of the events lodge on the property.
Co-owner Jan Muhleman told the board, “We don’t believe we’ve had any complaints. We’ve been working diligently to follow the rules, but we don’t have a specific way of monitoring our noise level.”
The board unanimously voted to get more information from the owners, which will be reviewed by the township’s planning commission.
The Aug. 2 election was discussed at the meeting. Clerk Elaine Bater said that more money is needed to cover the November election— $2,500 for salaries and $1,500 for office supplies for a total of $4,000. The board unanimously approved the budget line-item adjustment.
Also discussed at the meeting was a lawsuit by Twinkie Beach.
Ed Greenleaf, the board’s liaison to the Lima Township Cemetery, said, “The lawsuit is against the township for moving dirt on her land. I asked her what we can do, and she said there’s nothing we can do.”
The board unanimously approved sending a letter to Beach’s attorney offering to pay her $2,669 for maintenance and restoration with an agreement that this solves all claims.
There was a round of applause from those in attendance at the meeting for Trustee McKenzie during a comment from Chelsea District Library liaison Elizabeth Sensoli calling him, “a huge asset to the board.”
McKenzie was not re-elected to the board in last week’s election.
