Lima Township Board to hold fall public meetings about new township hall

Lima Township Hall

By Lisa Carolin

After a few public comments addressed problems with broadband access in Lima Township, Elizabeth Sensoli, representative to the Lima Township Board for the Chelsea District Library, and a member of the Lima Township Planning Commission, agreed to look into the situation.

That occurred at the Lima Township Board’s Aug. 12 meeting. Also addressed was the new township hall. Supervisor Craig Maier said the township is open to ideas about the property and has received some conceptual drawings. He plans to hold public input meetings this fall and winter with the hope of breaking ground next spring.

Maier said that the Washtenaw County Road Commission will soon begin mowing roadside vegetation. The WCRC terminated its Herbicide Spraying Program for Roadside Vegetation Control in July, after a number of Washtenaw County residents complained that the herbicide causes irreparable damage.

The board unanimously approved a $2,875 bid for bat removal and preventative services for a rental house at the corner of Lima Center Road.

Maier offered congratulations to Lima Township Assessor Bryan Renius for receiving a perfect score on a review by the State of Michigan Department of Treasury.
