Enjoy the sights and smells of spring at the Chelsea Farmers Market Saturday.

All sorts of plants and flowers are for sale as well as veggie and herb starts. Salad greens, spinach, and radishes are also available.

There will also be eggs, cheese, and jam, and a variety of fresh baked goods including breads, cakes, and cookies.

In addition, chocolate lovers can find a tasty selection of chocolates at Checkered Flag Chocolate Company. Greg Donovan is based in Tecumseh and brings his chocolate bars, which are made of 80 percent cocoa, to the Saturday market. The flavors include orange dark chocolate, mint, vanilla coffee, Mexican hot chocolate, and Earl Gray Lavender.

The Saturday market takes place at Palmer Commons on Main Street from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

There is a new regional (Chelsea, Grass Lake, Manchester and Stockbridge) food assistance program to help get healthy market food on the tables of those in need. It’s aimed at folks who don’t quite meet SNAP criteria. Be sure to inquire at the market.
