May 19: it’s asparagus season at the Chelsea Farmers Market

By Lisa Carolin

Did someone say they wanted asparagus?

Produce vendors at the Saturday Chelsea Farmers Market will have plenty to choose from on Saturday, May 19.

There will also be a selection of other seasonal fruits and vegetables, including rhubarb, spinach, onions, lettuce, herbs, lots of eggs, cheese, meats, and baked goods including lemon bars, madeleines, brownies, and muffins.

Vendors are also selling a variety of flowers and plants, soy candles, and bath and body items as well.

“Roots, stems, flowers and fruits will be the theme this week,” said Market Manager Emily Griswold.

A reminder that the Saturday farmers market runs from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and is located in the municipal parking lot by the library along Park Street.

There will be activities for kids. Seven types of food currencies are accepted.
