(Chelsea Update would like to thank Dave Brinklow for the information in this story.)

The Beach Middle School swim team beat Ypsilanti at home Wednesday night 128-38.

Eighth grade co-captain Mitchell Brown led the way again, smashing his own school record in the diving event and qualifying for the MISCA State Invitational in his 8th out of 8 possible individual events

His former record for diving was 242 points and he scored an amazing 258. His winning time in the 100 backstroke gave him his 8th qualifying time.

And he wasn’t alone, as another 8th grade co-captain, Gabriella Burgess added to the mix of qualifying times with her breaststroke leg of the 200 medley relay.

Lily Paddock made the qualifying cut for the diving event and Jenna Ouellette added her 2nd individual event qualifying in the 100 freestyle.

Brown was joined by Easton Hodel, Connor Zatkovich, and Joseph Grudzinski for the 400 freestyle relay whose first-place finish was also a qualifying time.

Other first place finishes were by Trilian Krug, Emma Zachrich, Keygan Monahan, and Jack Leissner.

Season best times were turned in by Jackie Dell, Natalia DeMea, Sofia DeMea, Paiton Doyle, Abe Elandt, Marina Hinz-Johnson, Auden Howard, Alyssa Kint, Lily Snyder, Jake Ward, Sydney Barston, Haley Hopkins, Gus Alafita, Jerem Norwood, Kai Ziolkowski and Lily Hansen.
