(Chelsea Update would like to thank the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce for the information in this story.)

The Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the 2019 Chelsea Citizen of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Two of Chelsea’s outstanding citizens will be honored at a banquet in October at the Chelsea Village Conference Center and receive a place of honor in the Chelsea Fair Parade.

Sponsored by the chamber, awards will be presented to two individuals who have demonstrated extensive and diverse participation in economic, social and civic involvement in the Chelsea area.

Accomplishments directly related to the candidate’s employment are excluded. The Citizen of the Year Award is given to a candidate who lives, works or actively participates in the Chelsea area and contributions to many facets of the community over the last year or more.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to a candidate that lives, works or has actively participated in the Chelsea area and has contributed to the welfare of the Chelsea community over the majority of their lifetime.

“These awards are presented every year to recognize the special, voluntary contributions of two Chelsea Community members,” said Monica Monsma, director of the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce, “They highlight the valuable contributions made by dedicated citizens to the civic and social life in our community.”

Nominations are due by Sunday, July 28.
