Oct. 10: Chelsea Kiwanis to honor Girl Scouts

kiwanis(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

Chelsea Kiwanis would like to thank retiring President Tom Ritter for his leadership, and serving as president of our club twice in recent years.

Our 2016-17 fiscal year has begun, now led by President Jim Randolph. In his opening remarks after the installation, Jim stated that while honoring our club’s statewide, national, and international commitments, his main passion and focus will be on our Chelsea community, especially our children. To that end, Jim continues to lead the Inter-generational Garden at Chelsea Senior Center, which introduces our youngest schoolchildren to planting seeds and watching them grow.

He would also like to “foster more communication and cooperation between Chelsea service organizations and their members.”

Our club encourages the health and fitness of our youth, and is pleased to support the Bulldog Jog on Friday, Oct. 14.  Events like this get children out of their classroom seats for some great exercise.

This Monday, we will be having our Girl Scout Appreciation Night. Scouts and their leaders are invited for dinner and the opportunity to catch us up on their fun and character building activities completed this year and the ones planned for the future.

The club meeting begins each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m.

Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to learn about Kiwanis.
