Publisher’s Message: I’ve Cut the Cord

Buzz and Aidan love their vegetables.

If you have tried to call me on my landline in the last two months, you were probably surprised by the message you received.

Yes, I gave up the landline I’ve had since I moved here 25 years ago, and for the first time in my life, I only have a cell phone.

Over the years, the landline went dead or became very static-y – more times than I can count. Numerous technicians came to “fix it,” but within a month or two, it would go bonkers again. Especially after storms of any kind. I know what the problem is but the technicians who came to fix it weren’t equipped or authorized to move the line. At the end of December, when it happened for the umpteenth time, I finally had had enough and decided to cut the cord.

Although it’s now been a couple of months, out of habit, I’ll still come home and check the spot where the answering machine used to live. Then chuckle to myself. I guess it takes a while to “unlearn” a quarter century old habit.

So, if you want to call me, please go to the “Contact” tab on the home page of Chelsea Update and you’ll find my cell phone number. Including it online in this column will only net me a whole bunch of spam calls, that’s why I’m asking you to take this extra step.

You can also send me an email at [email protected] and I’ll be glad to provide my cell number to you as well.

While I have your attention, I’d also like to thank the following people for their support of Chelsea Update during February.
