Jean L. Ashley of Chelsea, age 103, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 at the Chelsea Retirement Community.
She was born Nov. 10, 1915 in Glasgow, Scotland, the daughter of John and Ellen (Bain) Masterson.
Jean graduated from Cass Tech High School in Detroit, and was a State Swimming Champion. She was a cook at Chelsea High School for many years. She was active North Lake United Methodist Church and later Chelsea First United Methodist Church, and she was a Sunday School teacher and involved in the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
A memorial service will be held in the spring. Burial will be in Oak Grove East Cemetery in Chelsea.
