Steinaway,-Waldo--webWaldo B. “Wally” Steinaway IV of Waterloo Township, age 35, passed away at home while holding his wife’s hand on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014.

He was born on Oct. 31, 1979, in Ypsilanti, MI, the son of Waldo B. and Cheryl (Manier) Steinaway III. On March 23, 2013, he married Carrie L. Harris in Grass Lake, and she survives.

Wally had battled fiercely for two years with cancer. Numerous rounds of chemo, radiation, and trial drugs never kept him down. He always said that at the end of his battle he wanted to do something that would make a difference, whether that meant being a police officer, firefighter, or paramedic, but in the end he chose to donate himself to science in the hope of finding a cure for the late relapse of cancer that he experienced.

Wally graduated from Chelsea High School in 1999. He liked working on computers, trying to fix them. He loved working on cars and his favorites were Chevys. He also loved working on projects around the house. He was one who couldn’t sit still. He was the biggest kid at heart and this was reflected through his love for Optimus Prime from his favorite childhood cartoon, Transformers. Wally had worked as a binder operator for Malloy, which is now Edwards Brothers Malloy.

He was a very likable guy and a good friend to all he met. He was helpful and giving, never turning away anybody who asked for help. He was a jack of all trades, the handy man. He was a fighter, hero, and angel for his family. He was a good brother and son, and a loving husband and father.
