Monday, March 17 is the deadline to apply for auditions for this year’s Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights, which kicks off June 5 and runs every Thursday through Aug. 14.

Entertainers perform on ten separate staged areas throughout downtown Chelsea.

Open auditions for this year’s entertainment lineup will take place on March 24 from 5-8 p.m. at the Chelsea First United Methodist Church, 128 Park St. across from the Purple Rose Theatre.

And, in addition to the 11-week schedule, a three-day Chelsea Sounds and Sights Festival will take place July 24, 25 and 26.

There are over 100 paid spots available on the Thursday nights schedule. Auditions are open to musicians, singer/songwriters, jugglers, magicians, performers, dance troupes, artists and other street arts performers.

Interested performers are asked to fill out an application and reserve a time slot online here.

Those auditioning will then have 3-5 minutes to perform at one of three stages before a panel of judges made up of local musicians, committee members, merchants and maybe a few celebrities.

Performers should bring any necessary equipment with which they would normally perform. There are 30-40 audition slots available on a first come basis.

Those that cannot make the audition or are not able to secure a time slot should still fill out the application online and send in a CD, demo, or email a link to an audio demo.

Selected performers will be contacted to schedule performance dates based on availability. There is no charge to audition.
