The Computer Source celebrated 11 years in business in a new location Monday morning with a Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Owner Loveesh Thatai admitted he was emotional marking the special anniversary while telling those gathered that he’d already gotten positive feedback about the new location at 1250 South Main St. and he and Chelsea store manager Kristen Rod were already enjoying the about 1,100 square foot space.

He said if he’d known about this location when he opened his Chelsea store about 3.5 years ago, he would have started in this space across from Polly’s that’s more than double the square footage of the store’s former location.

“It’s been wonderful,” Thatai said of his time in Chelsea. “I feel really blessed and I’m very thankful to be part of the community.”

There are three store locations. In addition to the one in Chelsea, Thatai has one in Brooklyn and another in Grass Lake.

Although people can buy a computer anywhere, “We try to offer the best customer service possible,” he said.

Gary Munce summed it up well when he added, “It’s really great to have a tech resource here for the community.”

The Computer Source is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The store carries laptops and desktops and offers services such as custom building for gaming systems. “We’re now offering iphone and tablet repairs and they have hi definition TV sales and repairs as well as surveillance equipment and web design, he said.

And, it’s important to note that The Computer Source’s prices are comparable to those of the Big Box stores.

“Although each (computer store) has a niche, we now have high tech computer retail in Chelsea,” said Bob Pierce, executive director of the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce.
