Transportation work session, full agenda tonight for Chelsea City Council

Chelsea logo 2The Chelsea City Council will discuss a number of transportation topics at a work session tonight, May 18, beginning at 6 p.m. that include transportation routes and traffic patterns, a physical assessment of the city’s streets and education, enforcement and engineering.

At 7 p.m. the City Council will take up a full agenda that includes a presentation from representatives of the Purple Rose Theatre who will explain a plan for a proposed expansion that requires permission from the City Council because the expansion is planned for city-owned land. In addition, the theater company is under a tight deadline for an answer because it plans to apply for a grant that has a June 1 submission deadline.

The City Council is being asked to approve the city’s 2015-16 proposed budget, the proposed rate fee schedule, and the city’s proposed 13.155 millage rates that have not increased and include 11.2 mills for the general fund, 1.22 mills for streets and 0.7355 mills for streets.

Also up for approval is the DDA’s millage rate of 1.6727, which must be approved by the City Council.

The City Council will also be asked to approve a not-to-exceed bid of $30,190 from Carlisle Wortman to assist the Planning Commission with its update of the comprehensive plan, and to consider a motion to approve the city’s $5,000 portion of a contract to provide a joint target analysis of the city’s housing in conjunction with Dexter, Saline and Ypsilanti with LandUse USA.
