Chelsea Boys Track and Field defeated Lincoln on Tuesday, April 23, 83-53, making the Bulldogs 3-0 in dual meet competition.

“Lincoln is a young, talented, dangerous team,” said Head Coach coach Eric Swager, adding. “They will be quite good in a year or two, their jumpers are the best in the SEC, and they are well coached across the board.”

The Bulldog coach credited his team’s depth and some great field event performances to keep Chelsea competitive.

Swager recognized the Bulldog’s top 3 throwers (Tom Olsen, Michael Smith, Sam Katon) for their much improved focus and execution during this meet.

“We will count on them heavily as the season progresses, and it is nice to see them have some solid throws,” he said.

Zach Rabbitt had a fine meet, highlighted by two personal bests in the long jump and 400 dash, the coach said.

Many other distance runners had very good days, including Tony Vermilye, Conor Heaney, Campbell Fahle, Jack Abernethy, and Jon Steigerwald.

“This puts us in the driver’s seat as we seek our 3rd straight SEC title,” Swager said.

He encouraged everyone to watch the team Tuesday when they take on Tecumseh at home at 4:30 p.m.
