Volunteers needed for city gardening project on May 29

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Chelsea City Clerk/Treasurer Terri Royal for the information in this story.)

Chelsea recently received a $180 gardening grant from MSU and is looking for volunteers on Tuesday, May 29 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. to help with weeding, planting flowers, shrubs and raking around the city offices.

Three high school students have volunteered and are receiving community service hours, but the city wanted to open the project up to anyone who might be interested in helping to beautify the area.

Volunteers will work around the south side of the city offices downtown.

If time and money permits, we will also be putting down new mulch, said Terri Royal, city clerk/treasurer.

Anyone interested in helping is invited and encouraged to bring garden gloves and any type of rake or hand shovel, and meet at the city offices on Main Street.
