Dexter, Lima, Lyndon, Sylvan schedule annual road work meetings with Road Commission

February and March are important times for Dexter, Lima, Lyndon and Sylvan townships as during these months, elected officials meet with Washtenaw County Road Commission officials to plan roadwork projects for the upcoming year.

Recently, the Road Commission Board approved this year’s matching funds for road projects in all 20 townships across the county.

This money is broken into two pots – local road and drainage — and townships must choose specific projects they’d like constructed and match the funds allocated by the Road Commission.

Here’s the funding breakdown:

*Dexter Township: $16,546 in local road matching; $6,932 in drainage matching

*Lima Township: $14,687 in local road matching; $12,746 in drainage matching

*Lyndon Township: $11,955 in local road matching; $10,048 in draining matching

*Sylvan Township: $13,363 in local road matching; $11,489 in drainage matching

The allocation amount is based on the “total uncurbed, non-subdivision local road centerline mileage for each township,” according to information from the Road Commission.

A total of $500,000 was allocated for local road improvements and $200,000 for drainage projects for the county, which is the same amount that was allocated in 2012. Included in the list of available projects for these matching funds are roadside berm removal, ditch establishment and restoration, large culvert and bridge replacement.

In addition, these matching funds are available for use on uncurbed, non-subdivision local roads.

Here are the meeting dates and times:

Lima Township: Monday, Feb. 11 at 5 p.m. at Township Hall.

Sylvan Township: Monday, March 4 at 9 a.m. at Township Hall.

Dexter Township:  Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Township Hall.

Lyndon Township: Tuesday, March 12 at 6 p.m. at Township Hall.
