Now in its fourth week, Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights, presented by Golling Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Chelsea, continues its free summer concert series Thursday, June 30 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Professional artists perform at 11 staged areas located throughout downtown Chelsea featuring music, dance, comedy, and family entertainment.

This week, the Chelsea District Library’s Comedy Showcase wraps up its four week series with comedian Andy Beningo at Katie’s Korner on the library lawn. Performing his clever and “every-man” style of material has led to an active career taking him through 38 states and into Canada. Along the way, he has been a final four finalist on CMT’s Next Big Comic, and regularly performs on the Bob and Tom radio show.

The eclectic music series continues with a Johnny Cash Tribute band, Cash is King, at the South Street stage. Traditional acoustic musicians, Strings and Things, at the Clocktower Gazebo and singer-song writer, Eric Moore, at the East Alley stage.

Four of the music acts this week are new to Sounds & Sights.  Ann Arbor based, West Park Music Society Jazz, performs a mix of latin, swing and blues at East Middle Street.  The Motor City Boobie Woogie Kid presents a unique repertoire of roots, swing, and ragtime at the Glazier building, and Brown Mountain Apes performs rock and roll at Sylvan Courtyard.   Trey Connor (formally Trey McLaughlin of Bulletproof Snow) performs solo for the first time at Chelsea Alehouse Brewery.

In addition to music, there is something for the whole family including fun balloons for the kids created by 3 Generations Twisters, and face painting by Dee Dee the Clown and Face Painting Robot at the Clocktower Courtyard.

Chelsea Chalk Art, beneath the Chelsea Clocktower on Main Street, provides chalk and drawing examples for all ages and levels of expertise.  The theme this week is “My Country Tis of Thee”.

After Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights, SRSLY Cinema presents free outdoor movies at dusk. This week SRSLY presents “Napoleon Dynamite” (PG).
