Recent obituary: Roger L. Crispell

Crispell-RogerRoger L. Crispell of Chelsea died on Sunday, May 22, 2016 with his family at his side, the day after celebrating his 90th birthday.

He was born May 21, 1926 in Slaterville Springs, NY, the son of Leslie Ivan and (Lora) Pauline (Winchell) Crispell.

Roger served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII. Following a design education at Pratt Institute and five years in Ithaca, NY with his own design business, he spent 40 years with the General Motors Design Center and retired as an Executive Designer in charge of the Industrial Design Studios. He was an accomplished artist, and remained active in retirement.

Roger was an active member of the Crispell Family Association, founded to maintain the family genealogy and a historic church (Crispell Memorial) on Historic Huguenot Street in New Paltz, NY. He served in various capacities including President. He was also a founding member and Board Member of “BBAA” Birmingham-Bloomfield Art Center.

Private funeral arrangements were made with Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea.
