Chelsea Update recently ran a story about Chelsea’s Material Girls and the group’s most recent mission to help in the fight against Covid 19. They’ve been making masks for the Chelsea Retirement Community, and as of April 14, the number of masks they’ve made stands at 1,186 and still counting.
That number comes from Kristy Fetyko, treasurer of Material Girls, whose husband Steve Fetyko is the president and CEO of the United Methodist Retirement Community (UMRC).
Kristy Fetyko says, “We have given masks to the UMRC, Silver Maples, The Pines, Meals on Wheels, Chelsea Police Department, Chelsea Fire Department, and Chelsea Post Office.”
With the difficulty that healthcare workers and others have been facing getting all the needed personal protective equipment, Steve Fetyko says the face masks from the Material Girls offers peace of mind.
