2019 Curling Fest Preparations Underway

Are you getting excited for the second year of Curling Fest, which will take place Feb. 8-10?

Curling is like shuffleboard but played on ice, and is often called “chess on ice with granite and brooms.”

If you weren’t able to give this fun sport a try last year, make time and register now to participate in 2019.

Curling Fest, presented by Rick Taylor Real Estate, is a weekend of curling fun for beginners and experienced competitors, with a tournament and learn-to-curl sessions

There’s a tournament on Saturday, Feb. 9 for both experienced and novice competitors, and learn-to-curl lessons on both Feb. 8 and 10.

Spectators are welcome to come and watch the “bonspiel” (curling tournament) free and enjoy music, beer, food, hot cocoa, and more in a heated tent.

All competitors are guaranteed two matches and have a chance to win the Chelsea Curling Cup.

Want to learn how to curl? On Feb. 8 and 10, the ice sheets will be open for “learn to curl” sessions.

Tournament Cost: $120 per team of 4. Don’t have a team? That’s okay. We can place you on a team. Simply register as an individual, $30 per person

Where: 1180 S. Main Street at Chelsea Lanes

Age Requirements: Competitors must be at least 12 years old.

Learn to Curl: On Friday, Feb. 8, the ice sheets will be open for “learn to curl” sessions from 1-7 p.m. and on Sunday, Feb. 10 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Register for a 2-hour, drop-in sessions

Cost: $10 per person

How to Register: Team spots are available while they last. Register here to secure your spot.

Become a Sponsor: Become a sponsor and increase your visibility by being listed on a wide range of printed and online resources. Investment plans start at $200. Click here for more information.

The event is hosted by the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce. Email [email protected] for information or call 734-475-1145.

Register at https://a2tix.com/events/curling-fest-2019.

In case of warm weather, the competition will convert to a fowling tournament using the same team structure. Fowling is a hybrid game that combines football and bowling into one sport with a similar layout as horseshoes and cornhole.

No refunds offered after Jan. 25 and refunds will not be given for weather-related conditions or conversion to fowling tournament.
