Feb. 19: Breathe Yoga to raise funds for Flint water crisis

Breathe-Yoga-logo(Chelsea Update would like to thank Sue Whitmarsh for the information in this story.)

On the third Friday of each month, Breathe Yoga studio in Chelsea holds a community class it calls Breathe Gives, which raises money or specific items for various causes, local charities and non-profits.

February’s chosen beneficiary will be the people of Flint, who, as we are all starkly aware, have faced an unimaginable crisis these past two years surrounding one of our most basic of human needs: that of a clean, safe water supply.

Breathe is once again partnering with the Ann Arbor Jaycees to collect funds, which will be given directly to Flint to purchase filters and potable water for its residents.

The class will be from 6-7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, and the suggested minimum donation is $10 per person. Please do not donate water.

Breathe instructor and Flint native, Staci Gatica will lead the class, and says in a press release, “Many people think very little of Flint, but I can honestly say that there is no place I’d rather be from; my childhood friends were the best. It’s so sad that so many kids there have been put at risk from this water crisis, and I’m very happy to be helping out in some way by teaching this class. Please come and support us.”
