Recent obituary: Robert Patrick ‘Pat’ Smith

Robert Patrick “Pat” Smith, age 76, passed away at home in Chelsea on Dec. 27, 2018.

Born to Minerva Lorraine Hepburn and Joseph Raymond Smith on May 2, 1942 in Ann Arbor, Pat was the youngest of six children.

An independent, proud Irishman, Pat lived life fully and fiercely loved his family and friends. His larger than life smile, bright blue eyes, and sharp sense of humor drew people to him and nurtured unlikely friendships. Pat enjoyed people and proudly carried mail in Ann Arbor for more than 35 years before retiring from the USPS.

He loved playing golf and relished the time he had in retirement to enjoy golf courses around the country and in Ireland. An avid reader and history buff, Pat delighted in discovering his family’s ancestry and loved to watch old movies, especially westerns, and football.

Help celebrate Pat’s life on Saturday, Jan. 26 from 2-4 p.m. at Chelsea Community Fairgrounds.
