Chelsea Parks Commission encourages residents to take survey

By Lisa Carolin

Chelsea residents and local park users are encouraged to take the parks survey that is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ChelseaParksSurvey2020 for the next three weeks.

That was discussed at the Nov. 3 Chelsea Parks Commission meeting held via Zoom. Chelsea City Manager John Hanifan said that there have been 130 responses so far, and that the city would love to receive as many responses as the last survey, which exceeded 500.

It only takes 5-10 minutes to complete. The results of the responses will be incorporated in the final Parks Plan Update.

Hanifan said that constructing a pavilion in Pierce Park will happen soon and that all went smoothly with landscaping and moving The Rock. Members of the Parks Commission said they were pleased with the way things look. A sign has also been ordered for Pierce Park, which will be the same color as the sign at Palmer Commons.

No final word yet on whether the City of Chelsea will receive the Connecting Communities Grant 2020, which would help to finance the connection of Timber Town to the community garden to Veterans Park. Hanifan said that he’s optimistic about getting the grant.

The Parks Commission meets next on Dec.1 at 9 a.m.
