Publisher’s message: Happy Easter everyone

Crocus at my home.
Crocus at my home.

Happy Easter, everyone.

For anyone disappointed that there isn’t a photo of my dogs in bunny ears this year, here’s why. I promised them that since they are important members of Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce Small Business Leadership Award winning Chelsea Update staff, this year, I wouldn’t humiliate them in print.

Instead, I have another surprise. Spring has officially begun because I am thrilled to announce that everyone’s favorite wildlife columnist and photographer, Tom Hodgson, has returned.

And he and the Waterloo Natural History Association have a surprise for all of you. This week, he lets everyone know about a new publication that will assist you in your quest to see the marvelous spring flowers found right here in the Waterloo Recreation Area. On my To Do List this week is to not only get one but also to take it with me on a walk in the woods.

When his first column of the spring arrived in my in box earlier this week, I immediately sent him an email that read: “Best Easter Gift Ever,” and I hope you, the readers, agree. It’s been a long winter for everyone but things now are looking up. The snow’s just about gone and each week, like you, I can’t wait to see what topic Tom has picked for his column.

I know that readers join me in saying, “Welcome back, Tom. No mater what the weather might be outside, it’s now officially spring in Chelsea Update readership land.”

On another note, I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank the following people who have recently donated to Chelsea Update.

  • Kay and Earl Heller
  • Jenn Ridley
  • Share Words
  • Ruth Musbach
  • Fred Barkley
  • Patti and John Schick

And, since I haven’t begged recently, but I’m still working just as hard, if you’d like to help my efforts to bring you all the news that’s fit to post about Chelsea, please send a donation of any amount to Chelsea Update, 18829 Bush Road, Chelsea, MI 48118. The community’s help is so appreciated and continues to allow me to publish this news site for all of you seven days a week as my full-time job.

I wish everyone a very Happy Easter and a healthy, safe, fun, relaxing and happy spring break.

Be sure to pick up a copy of this new publication at the Discovery Center and enjoy a lovely walk in the woods.  Maybe I’ll see you there.
