Please help: USArt Quest coordinating Hurricane Harvey collections

USArtQuest of Chelsea is coordinating the collection of personal products and dry goods for those affected by the devastation of Hurricane Harvey.

This will be an ongoing because the need will be ongoing.

Prioritizing the first efforts, USArtQuest suggests donations such as toothpaste, brushes, combs, soap, band aids, tissues, toilet paper, paper towel, laundry soap, diapers, sanitary napkins, adult and baby shampoo, deodorant, adult and baby diapers, diaper wipes (they’re all purpose) and lots and lots of garbage bags of all sizes.

“We would also like to support the children and even adults with coloring books and crayons,” says Susan Pickering Rothamel, owner of USArtQuest.

“We not only have personal connections with family and businesses in the Houston area,” she says, “but, we believe we are uniquely situated to help. During and after the Katrina disaster, and with the help of several organizations, we collected art supplies from all over the world, sorted, boxed, palletized and distributed them to the evacuation centers in Louisiana, Texas and Alabama. That time it was much needed ‘art therapy’ to those who lost everything. This time we have an even greater need. Please don’t forget to check with your employers, friends, neighbors and businesses that might feel they want to get involved and participate in this drive.”

Drop items off beginning immediately to: USArtQuest, Inc. 18650 W. Old US12, Chelsea, MI 48118 – M-F 9 to 5:30 and Saturday from 10-2. (For reference, this is the location of the Fed Ex office.)
