The Washtenaw County Road Commission and Lima Township have agreed to about $69,558 in road projects that include the addition of about 3,000 tons of limestone for Fletcher Road between Old US-12 and Trinkle Road.

“Lima Township has certainly stepped up its participation this year,” said Road Commission Board Chairman Doug Fuller following the approval of the contract on Tuesday, April 2.

In addition, township officials agreed to about $15,900 in dust control, about $6,750 in township wide limestone and gravel plus about $25,500 in township wide ditching, berm removal and associated restoration of roads. Where these projects will take place will be determined by Township Supervisor Craig Maier or his designee and the district foreman for the Road Commission.

“We’ve certainly noticed the increase in participation,” Fuller said of Lima Township’s recent contract, adding that Maier, a former superintendent of public works for the City of Chelsea, was “someone interested in infrastructure” throughout the township.
