Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights, presented by Rick Taylor Real Estate – Reinhart Realtors, continues its free summer concert series Thursday, Aug. 8 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.

Professional artists perform at 10 staged areas located throughout downtown Chelsea showcasing music, magic, and balloon twisting.

The summer-long concert series is a program of Chelsea Area Festivals & Events (CAFE), a not-for-profit organization that enriches Chelsea, and the surrounding communities, by promoting the presentation of and participation in quality performing and visual arts throughout the year.

The diverse music line-up features regional artists, including acoustic-pop artist, Lia Catallo, performing covers and original tunes at the new Palmer Commons Stage. Washtenaw County-based group, Bowdish Brothers, play Americana Roots music at Katie’s Korner on the Library Lawn.

Classic Rock musician, Kevin B Klein, performs at Sylvan Courtyard, while Dorkestra brings their fun, eclectic and unique repertoire to East Middle Street. At South Street, Otter River performs high-energy, boot-stomping honky tonk as well as lonesome classic country ballads.

The Bluesmatics play blues music at the Glazier Building and just around the corner at the Clocktower Gazebo, Athens Creek performs original Americana. With a strong emphasis on male/female vocal harmony, Athens Creek has a versatile sound that sways from soft and melodic to punchy and rhythmic.

There is something for the whole family including Alexander the Magician at the Clocktower Courtyard Stage as well as the family-run balloon twisting company, 3 Generations Entertainment at the Main Street Alley.

The “Sights” of Sounds and Sights include the “How To Chalk” seminars each week beneath the Clocktower. Everyone is invited to transform the pavement into colorful works of art, this week the focus is Video Game Characters. Visitors are also invited to explore the new installation of SculptureWalk Chelsea, a self-guided walking tour of 13 juried sculptures.
