Beach Middle School volleyball recap

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Dave Brinklow, Kim Eder, Gretchen Steele and Pennie Ward for the information in this story.)

7th grade blue
It was a heartbreaker for the 7th grade blue volleyball team against Bedford Wednesday night.

The team won the first game 26-16 then lost the second game 25-6. In the 3rd game, they led most of the way and had a 21-16 lead and then a Bedford server got the hot hand and served 8 straight points to make it 24-21. The Bulldogs got the ball back and brought it to within one at 23-24 before losing the serve for Bedford’s winning point, losing a tough one 25-23.

Sierra Suntheimer led with 11 service points, Mya Purdy had 9, Riley Monahan 4, Emilee Underwood 3, Megan Boughton 2, and Madison Kay 1.

8th grade blue
Chelsea 8th grade blue volleyball team battled the Bedford Kicking Mules in three  hard fought games. The Mules won all three, but not without a fight.

McKenna Fletcher started middle front and also was subbed in for many positions and players. Amelia Johnson served well capturing some services points. The team played well.

8th grade gold
One thing that is becoming clear about 8th grade gold volleyball early in the season is that they play till the end and don’t give up.

Wednesday night against Dexter, the team was down by 9 points and battled back to win 25-23. The second game was just as exciting, ending in a close loss 25-23. The 3rd game battled back and forth with six lead changes. In the end, Chelsea fell short of the win by only 25-23.

Erin Dusenbury covered the floor with great passing, sets and serves. Ellie McGlashen was great at the net with 3 kills. Lily June, Jessie Neff, and Reese Johnson had strong passing. Bethany Aquilino had a great dig on a hard spike. Great effort everyone.

7th grade gold
The 7th grade gold team lost 2 out of the 3 games last night to Dexter. All games were close and the girls didn’t give up trying to beat Dexter.

Our leading server for the night was Kayla Munson with 14 pts. Megan McCalla had 12 pts, Kierstin Smith with 4, Anna Reisner and Amelia Christie both with 3 pts and Emma Leonard with 2 pts. Great passing for the night came from Sam Nye, Zoe T and Zoe R.
