Beach Middle School volleyball season in the books

7th grade blue

The 7th grade Blue Volleyball team finished its season Monday night with an exciting come from behind win at Lincoln.

The team won the first set 25-15, lost the 2nd 11-25, and came from 8 points down to win the 3rd set, 25-21.

Great serving from Kate Krugh, Caroline Knight and Grace Ratliff made a huge impact. Maya Valik and Chloe Gray got their first serve points in the match. Outstanding play at the net from Maggie Baldwin, Claire Zarinnia, Emily Gagnon, and Elsa Baize.

Great defensive passing came from Shelby Wheeler, Allie Schumann,Tabitha Alery, Katie Jedele and Addie McCarthy.

Congratulations on a great season.

7th grade gold

The 7th grade gold team brought home a victory in its final match of the season vs Pinckney.

The Dawgs won the first 2 sets 25-18 and 25-16 before losing the last set, 24-26. Meghan Bareis and Cecilia Henriksen had nice tips during the match and Charlotte Diesing had a nice hit.

Rory Mickle also had a nice set over the net in the last set and Jenna Ouellette led the team serving 10 points in a row.

Seventh grade gold had 14 hard-working supportive teammates this season who developed and worked together to achieve a record of 9-3.

Coach Ouellette congratulates and thanks this group of girls for such a great season.

8th grade blue

The 8th grade blue volleyball team was seven strong and closed out the season 7-3.

“I would coach this team all over again,” said coach Pennie Ward. “They understood that it’s not about play time; it’s all about positioning and rotations and the needs of the team.”

Monday night, the Bulldogs took on the Railsplitters and won the first set 25-15, but dropped the next two sets 21-25 and 14-25.

“Chelsea’s 8th grade Blue Rocks,” the coach said, adding, “I will look forward to watching each player grow and compete at the high school level. Thanks so much for all the hard work that was put in.”

For the final match of the season, 8th grade gold volleyball finished the season against Pinckney winning all 3 sets. (25-15, 25-15, 25-17).

Sierra Suntheimer was at the top of her serving game, racking up 11 points in a row in both the first and the second sets and playing a strong setting position.  Madi Kay followed up in the 3rd game with 10 points in a row.

Other highlights included a great save by Jordan Siefert, several digs from Jessie Wesley and good front row plays from Meg Boughton and Emilee Underwood. Coach Kim Eder wants to give a shout out to ALL players: Thanks for a great and fun season.
