Beach Middle School volleyball season underway

7th grade blue
The 7th grade Blue Volleyball team played their home opener against Saline last night losing a close match. They lost the first set 21-25, lost the 2nd 19-25 and won the 3rd set with an exciting comeback.

Kate Krugh with 11 serve points including 8 straight in the first set. Caroline Knight served 7 points, Allie Schumman 4, Maggie Baldwin 2, and Maya Valik, Katie Jedele, Claire Zarinnia and Grace Ratliff each had 1.

Shelby Wheeler had an outstanding dig in the comeback win and Krugh played some excellent defense.

7th grade gold
The 7th grade gold volleyball team brought home a victory vs Tecumseh in their opening match

They won their first 2 sets with scores of 25-20 and 25-18 before losing their final set 21-25.

Sasha French, Charlotte Diesing, and Jenna Ouellette each served 4 aces as well as several great additional serves that landed the team with many points.

Also noteworthy was the passing and setting of Gabriella Basar,  Meghan Bareis and Emma Ward.

8th grade gold
8th Grade gold volleyball won their first match against Tecumseh Monday night.

The team won the first set 25-19. Leading servers were Emilee Underwood and Maddie Kay. Sierra Suntheimer had 2 great saves and a hit.  Jessie Wesley also had a great dig.

In the second match, Megan Boughton led off the game with 7 points in a row,  but the Bulldogs fell short with a loss, 20-25.

With the match on the line, the girls pulled together to edge out the final win 25-19.

8th grade blue
Chelsea 8th grade blue started off the season with a huge win taking down the Saline Hornets 25-23 25-23 and 6-25.

Strong serving started the Bulldogs off with Anna Reisner, Kayla Munson setting the tempo for the team, Saline struggled with serve receive.

I’m seeing a lot of good play by all on my team, the coach said. Especially for the first game of the season, where we as a team pulled it together and it showed on the court.

Adrija Skiotys had 5 points, Annestyn Law 4 points Mikaila Leonard 3 points. Strong play from my middles Molly Sobiechowski and Hayley Hice at the net. Sami Nye and Emma Leonard had great passing.
