(Chelsea Update would like to thank Chuck Reed for the information in this story.)

The Veterans of Foreign Wars in Chelsea is once again opening this year’s scholarship programs for middle school and high school.

The Patriots Pen is a youth essay for students in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th. This year’s theme is “America’s Gift to My Generation”.

The Voice of Democracy is for high school students and is a recorded essay on CD or flash drive. This year’s theme is “America’s History: Our Hope for the Future”.

The programs are open to students who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial school or home study programs in the United States and its territories. Deadlines for essays are Nov. 1.

If you are in Beach Middle School they can be turned into Mrs. Musolf.

In High School please turn them into Mrs. Weber.
