Chelsea Area Fire Authority (CAFA) recently purchased four AED’s and cases that have been placed in the member town halls of Lima, Lyndon, and Sylvan townships as well as the office of the Chelsea Area Construction Agency

The cases were recently installed at those locations and the installation of the AEDs will soon follow – along with some basic supplies to assist bystanders in case an AED is needed.

A brief class was offered to the employees of each town hall and board members providing foundation information.

Chelsea Area Fire Authority is offering a free CPR class to each location as well. This class will be offered to the town hall employees and board members first. If there are any openings, residents may attend, but each class will be capped at 16 people.

“AEDs are a great tool for the public to be part of the process to assist those in need, but, in order for the process to work better, CPR needs to be initiated by any bystanders that are trained to do so,” said CAFA Fire Captain Chris Smyth.

The City of Chelsea has many AEDs in place right now, but some additional  locations have been discussed for a future purchase.
