The Chelsea Area Garden Club (CAGC), which traditionally meets the second Monday of each month September through May, will not hold in-person meetings for the remainder of the year due to the pandemic.

“The CAGC executive board will re-evaluate the possibility of resuming in-person meetings in January,” said CAGC President Cathy Gillem.

In the meantime, club members continue to work to beautify Chelsea. Each spring club members design and plant the flowerbeds along Main Street and at the Chelsea District Library. Members weed and deadhead the plants throughout the summer.

This fall club members will dig up the flowering annuals in the downtown beds and replace them with daffodil, tulip and other bulbs that will bloom next spring.

Previously, the CAGC also has offered a limited number of grants that support horticulture-related community projects as part of its efforts to promote the love of gardening, community beautification, environmentally responsible horticultural practices, and conservation through education and demonstration in the Chelsea area. Due to the pandemic, grant applications will not be posted in 2020. The executive board will re-evaluate the situation in January.
