Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
Are you putting the finishing touches on your green barn entries?
I checked my hanging basket vegetables Thursday and this year’s weather took its toll on what I’d hoped to enter in the ag area.
The peanuts are pathetic, the carrot looks like, well, I’m not sure what, and the little lunch box peppers … not much to choose from this late in the season, but I’m told what was picked previously were pretty good. Not a fan of peppers but I like to grow them.
But, I might be able to salvage a grape tomato entry? There are a scant few possibilities.
I guess, once again, I’ll be pinning my hopes for a ribbon on my annual cross-stitch entry, which this year is a fox (that did not get into anyone’s hen house).
Hope your crops are more promising than mine.
Remember, you have from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18 to enter your vegetables and fruit, canned goods, cakes and cookies, antiques, crafts, cross-stitch, sewing, needlepoint, photography, quilt or crocheted items.
And while you are there, you can watch the horse show or take in a tractor pull. Both begin at 9 a.m.
And, the folks from Kiwanis will be on hand with their concession trailer open, so be sure to stop by for lunch while you’re there.
Hope to see everyone there.
