Chelsea Freshman Football Loses to Jackson, 30-7; Looks to Bounce Back This Week

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Chris Orlandi for the information in this story.)

The Chelsea freshman football team lost to Jackson High School at home on Thursday by a final score of 30-7.

The Bulldogs were doomed by 6 turnovers and poor offensive execution.

“I feel badly because I didn’t get the team ready to play,” said coach Chris Orlandi. “Jackson absolutely dominated us and that shouldn’t happen to a CHS football team.”

Jackson scored the first 22 points of the game. An interception by Ethan Collins set up Chelsea’s lone touchdown. QB Jack Orlandi connected with Jimmy Sciackitano on a 24 yd TD pass just before halftime to make the score 22-7.

Second half turnovers spoiled any opportunity Chelsea had of drawing closer.

Luke Webster and Ethan Povlich were outstanding defensively and Will McCalla had an interception that he returned 50 yards.

“We are really battling defensively,” the coach said, adding, “That energy needs to spill over to the offensive side. I know we can improve and I look forward to seeing it on the field next Friday against Pioneer.”
