Chelsea girls tennis sweeps Milan with photo gallery by Alan Scafuri

Chelsea girls Tennis defeated  Milan Thursday, 8-0.

Winning for Chelsea were:
1 singles.      Katie Lee d. Shelby Hawk 6-0, 6-0
2 singles.     Mackenzie Benning d. Selena Smith 6-2, 6-1
3 singles.   Callie Brannon d. Jillia Goodin 6-2, 6-0
4 singles.     Jenna May d. Jessica Gruber 6-7, 6-0, 11-9
1 doubles. Sam Jabara/Erin Koch d. Emily/Kendra Tate 6-0, 6-1
2 doubles. Hannah Moore/Hannah Schwippert d. Madison McIntosh/Maria Contreas 6-0, 6-0
3 doubles. Alison Staelgrave/Shavani Rana d. Kelsey Miten/Lee Anne Keyoa 6-3, 6-2
4 doubles. Taylor Schrock/Jordan Hirst d. Solana Howard/Abigal Philoben 6-0, 6-0

“The girls played great tennis today,” said Coach Matt Pedlow. “The match of the day was at 4 singles where Jenna May made her varsity debut. “

The coach said she lost a very tight first set, but came back to win the 2nd set 6-0. In the 3rd set tiebreaker,  Jenna was down 9-6, so her opponent had a number of chances at match point but she battled back and won five straight points.

“Hopefully,” the coach said, “This match gives Jenna some confidence to continue to play strong tennis.”
