On Wednesday, Nov. 29, the Chelsea High School Varsity Quiz Bowl team traveled to Manchester to open up the Southeast Michigan Tri County league schedule.
In the first game of the doubleheader, juniors Eric Cameron and Charlotte Tierney led a strong first half that saw the Bulldogs take a 160-60 lead to half time.
Junior Alex Rogers and sophomore Jack Jordan paced the second half as Chelsea held off a furious Manchester charge to emerge with a 240-140 victory.
In the second game, senior Nathan Polens led the Bulldogs in scoring with Rogers, Cameron and Jordan contributing key responses. Again, Manchester mounted a comeback attempt, but the Bulldogs prevailed in the end 270-210.
Chelsea Varsity is 2-0 in league play and 14-15 overall having played elite competition in preseason tournaments. They host Whitmore Lake in a doubleheader on Dec. 13.
The junior varsity begins its league season by sending two teams to Howell on Dec. 4. They were 11-7 in preseason tournaments.
