(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

Last Monday, the Chelsea Kiwanis Club heard from Chelsea Community Fair Board President Eric McCalla. He reported that last summer’s fair receipts were in the top five best of all time. After 2022’s record receipts, last summer’s awful Thursday prevented a new record. The fair’s livestock auction was the second best of all time, as many more animals were entered.

The Chelsea Fair Board will be represented at the upcoming annual convention for Michigan fairs held in Grand Rapids.

This coming summer will feature a concert at the fairgrounds on Monday night, just before the fair officially begins on Tuesday. Concert Promoters Country Boots and Bands will arrange exciting performers to inaugurate this new event in Chelsea. If successful, the board hopes to have more concerts in the future.

We appreciate Kiwanis’s long and happy association with the Chelsea Community Fair, and presented Eric with our support in memory of long-time Fair Board and Kiwanis member Walt Zeeb, former owner of Chelsea Greenhouse.

The 5th Annual Mixed Nut and Chocolate Delight Sale is coming to an end. We appreciate the community’s purchases during this fundraiser. Funds raised will be directed back into the Chelsea community to aid groups working to improve lives, especially children’s lives.
