Chelsea Senior Center’s Executive Director Bill O’Reilly joined the Chelsea Kiwanis Club last Monday.

He described the programs and activities available at the center.

The new ROAM (Rural Older Adults in Motion) program offers free door to door transportation for Senior Center members throughout north and northwest Washtenaw county. In addition, transportation can be arranged in the whole 5 Healthy Towns area, Chelsea, Stockbridge, Dexter, Manchester, and Grass Lake.

There will be a free lunch for veterans on Monday, and the annual Thanksgiving meal on Friday, Nov. 22.

We presented the senior center with our annual donation. The club supports the Intergenerational Garden, where young children work with seniors and learn about planting seeds and watching them grow.

The Chelsea Senior Center welcomes new members. Anyone 50 years or older may join.

Tonight, the club will hear from Lon Cooke and Stewart Elliot from Right Homes Company. Beginning in 2017, the company designs classic Arts & Crafts, Prairie-style, Bungalow house plans, updated for today’s lifestyles. The ready to assemble house kits are right sized and energy efficient.

Chelsea Kiwanis meets each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m.

Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to enjoy our speakers and learn about Kiwanis.
