Chelsea Rotary Club sponsoring exchange student, looking for host family

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Lori Coryell for the information in this story.)

The Chelsea Rotary Club is very pleased to sponsor a student for the 2017-2018 school year as part of the Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) program.

Through RYE, exchange students unlock their true potential to develop lifelong leadership skills, learn a new language and culture, build lasting friendships with young people from around the world, and become global citizens. RYE builds peace one young person at a time.

The Chelsea Rotary Club is looking for a host family for the final trimester of the school year beginning in March. Hosting a RYE student is a very rewarding experience for both student and the host families, bringing an international experience directly into the home. Host families share their lives with exchange students, involving them in family, community, and cultural activities.

Families provide room and board for exchange students and must live within the Chelsea School District but do not need to have school-aged children in the household. Interested host families must complete an application that includes background checks for all adults living in the home.

Do you know a student in the Chelsea area who might be interested in participating in the RYE program as an outbound exchange student? It’s an awesome opportunity to broaden horizons and represent our country and Chelsea in the global community.

If you are interested in hosting our student for the final trimester in Chelsea or would like more information on becoming a RYE student, please contact Chelsea Rotary Club at www.rotarychelsea.org. The relationships that develop through RYE build trust and understanding around the world. In hosting a student or participating as an exchange student, you can have a global impact.

Did you know that Rotary International has sent young people around the globe, experiencing new cultures, since 1929? Currently about 9,000 students are sponsored by Rotary clubs every year.
