Chelsea Softball Defeats Dexter, Fowlerville: Team Now 26-2

On Thursday, May 19, the Chelsea softball team hosted a three-team round robin with Dexter and Fowlerville high schools.

In game one, Chelsea and Dexter squared off for the third time this season.  The Bulldogs took a 4-0 lead after 3 innings though Dexter battled back scoring 3 in the top of the 4th.

Chelsea responded by scoring 2 in the bottom of the 4th, ultimately going on to earn a closely contested 6-4 victory. 

Emilee Underwood earned her 14th win of the of the season surrendering 4 hits and 4 earned runs while striking out 8. Underwood also reached a career milestone by pitching the 400th strikeout in her career.

Offensively, the Bulldogs were led by Jenna Ouellette and Mya Purdy who went 3 for 4 and 2 for 4 respectfully. Maggie Olaveson hit a two-run homer in the 2nd inning, which was her 3rd home run of the season.

In game 2, Chelsea battled with Fowlerville. Chelsea struggled defensively giving up 6 unearned runs but countered with timely hitting to beat Fowlerville 12-8 in a 6-inning darkness-shortened game.

Megan McCalla earned her 9th win of the season surrendering 8 hits and 2 earned runs to take the win. Offensively, the Bulldogs were led by Andi Evers who went 3 for 3 with 3 RBI’s.

Emilee Underwood and Zoey Monica both went 2 for 3 on the day. Maggie Olaveson hit her 4th home run of the season, which is the 30th home run hit by the Lady Bulldogs this season.

Thursday’s wins run the Bulldogs record to 26-2 on the season.
