This year’s Chelsea United Way fundraising goal is $100,000 and the volunteers are a little more than half-way there.

Ed Greenleaf, honorary chairman of the Chelsea United Way fundraising campaign, reminds people that all the money collected stays in the community and helps member agencies such as Grace Clinic, which offer free health care to those in need.

You can keep pace with the effort by taking a look at the two thermometers that announce the campaign’s progress. They can be found in front of Chelsea Lanes and in Veterans Park.

Eric Keaton, president of the board of directors of the United Way of Chelsea, reminds people that there are also piggy banks in different store and restaurant locations throughout town and every little bit helps.

Gifts to the United Way of Chelsea make a big difference in the lives of people throughout the community, Keaton says, adding, “When you live united, you join many others who care about the same thing: making sure everyone in this community has a chance for a better life.”
