Chelsea varsity soccer 2-0; JV 2-0-2

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Shawn Hayes for the information in this story.)

JV Soccer
The Chelsea JV soccer team started the week with back to back road games, first  traveling to Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard. The girls played a tough game against a strong team and wound up tied 2-2 before inclement weather shut down the remainder of the game during the second half.

Last night both JV and varsity traveled to Jackson High to play the Vikings. The JV team played a great game and was unlucky, not to capitalize on a few opportunities but played well and tied their second game on the road in two consecutive nights.

JV final was 1-1.

Varsity Soccer
Chelsea’s varsity took to the field following the JV game and after losing last year to Jackson, the girls showed how badly they wanted to play toward a different outcome, and succeeded with a 5-1 victory.

The team played really well and looked sharp in their first game back since spring break.

Chelsea had 5 different goal scorers in the game. The first goal, coming just before the end of the first half was scored by Delaney Krause. Taking a 1-0 lead into the second half, the Bulldogs wanted to try and score the next goal and carry momentum after that. It didn’t take long after the start of the second half before the Bulldogs drew a free kick outside the Vikings penalty area and Alexa Quintana chipped the goalie on an ice free kick for her goal, the team’s second.

Sam Pagliarini, Jesse Jacobusse and Brianna Hay finished off the scoring for the Bulldogs. Anna Regis, Delaney Krause, Jesse Jacobusse and Alexa Quintana all recorded assists in the game.

Emily Griggs had 3 saves on the night.

Chelsea’s JV is now 2-0-2 with the varsity 2-0 on the season.
