There are just a few days left to make your voice heard on which dog should be the 2012 Top Dog of Chelsea — a fun contest that benefits the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.

The contest ends at the close of business on Wed., Oct. 17, so be sure to get to cast your vote for your favorite. The dog’s photos can be found at the 12 participating businesses: Arctic Breakaway Restaurant, Chelsea Lanes/Antique Mall, Cleary’s Pub, Ellie’s Chocolate Cafe, Global Marketplace, Pancho Villa, Seitz’s Tavern, Stiver’s, The Tree House, Thompson’s Pizzeria, Uptown Coney Island, and the Wolverine Food and Spirits.

A big picture and information about each dog are on display at the participating establishments. Each vote costs $1, and you can vote as many times as you wish.

The winning dog will be awarded some great prizes donated by Wags to Wiskers, Lane Animal Hospital, Chelsea Animal Hospital and Chelsea Farmer’s Supply and also have bragging rights.

Last year, this contest raised almost $4,000 and Barb Marshall, its organizer, hopes to do even better this year.

She has raised more than $20,000 to date for this year’s walk and has raised almost $150,000 since 2003 for the American Cancer Society’s fight against breast cancer. In fact, Marshall’s been in the top 20 fundraisers nationwide for each of the past three years.

“I’d sincerely appreciate your “votes” for your favorite dog or if you prefer, you can go directly to my website and make a donation,” she said in an email.
